DIY || DIY 3D Floral Manicure Using Nail Stickers

My Obsession with Manicures shouldn’t be new to anyone who follows me on social media. However, we all know how expensive getting a Manicure can be; and so I’m constantly looking for new ways to get my nails slayed but on a budget.

My search took me to Miniso where I found these 3D Nail stickers that cost only N990 a pack. The pack comes with two 3D nail sticker strips, with each strip having 16 stickers of different sizes. The strips come pre-designed and you can stick them onto your own painted nails or faux nails – whichever you prefer. Nail stickers are pretty cool ‘cos they are an inexpensive way of making your basic polished nail look super cute.

Now, Miniso isn’t the only company to produces Nail stickers and this tutorial isn’t actually my first experience with nail sticker. I’ve used Nail stickers (also called nail wraps sometimes) from another brand on my blog here (see pictures below). So don’t be dismayed if you don’t have a Miniso store around you, you can look around for nail stickers in your local beauty store and I’m sure you’ll find some!

Anyway, enough rambling – Watch this really quick tutorial on how I turned my orange mani into a cutie! … and at the end of the video, let me know if you will consider trying Nail stickers out!

P.S. – Pictures of my manicure were taken 4 days later so yep! They do last.

DIY || Organic Body Scrub in 2 Easy Steps

Times without number I have preached and confessed my love for body scrubs! Don’t believe me? Check out this post, this post or this post for proof. However, more than ever, I have come to love and appreciate this line of products because of the Harmattan season here in Nigeria!

While I love patronizing other brands, the DIY junkie in me will not let me just sit back and not learn to make body scrubs for myself! So now that I’ve learnt, I’m here to share it with you and trust me, it’s much easier than you might think. Here are the ingredients you need :

Honey

Sugar

3rd variable Ingredient

Honey and sugar are the main ingredients for any body scrub I make. The 3rd ingredient is always an added extra that exist for added skin benefits. You can choose to use Turmeric, Coffee, Oats, an essential oil or any other natural ingredient that’s good for your skin. For this tutorial, I used Coffee.

My decision to use coffee is because coffee is because coffee :

  1. Contain anti-oxidants which are great for reducing the signs of ageing and also improving the appearance of your skin
  2. Coffee promotes blood circulation when applied on skin
  3. Coffee protects your skin against UV rays

… and so my choice of Coffee. Regardless, the process is pretty much the same but I’ll go through the coffee scrub making process and point out any variations where they exist.

Step 1

Place 1 heaped table-spoon of coffee grounds in a sauce pan. Add 1/2 a cup of water and bring to a boil. Allow the coffee grounds to boil for about 10-15 minutes. Once it’s boiled, sieve out the boiled coffee to separate out the coffee grounds. Then place your liquid coffee in a mixing bowl and leave to cool.

Alternatively, you can use the grounds without boiling but if you do so, your scrub will not be completely soluble in water and might be annoying to wash off.

Step 2

Add 2 table spoons and 4 table spoons of sugar to your liquid coffee and stir. Please note that these are only guidelines and you can add more of less as you please. It all depends on the consistency you want.

Once you’re done mixing, your scrub is ready to be used! Easy as 1 & 2!

Final Tips!

Now if you were using a different 3rd ingredient like Turmeric, you wouldn’t need to boil it first and Tumeric is completely soluble in water. If you were using an essential oil, you wouldn’t need to boil it as well but be mindful of the quantity you use as in this case, it shouldn’t be anywhere as much as the amount of honey you use.

Hope this was useful and if you’ve got any other question, don’t hesitate to ask! I’m always here for you – Literally ^_^
