Every year comes and goes and like seasons, Gingham comes and goes as well. The check print pattern never makes the lime light during the Autumn winter months; but as soon as spring shows it’s face, BAM! It’s everywhere.

For years! I have admired stylistas and fashion conscious individuals who are able to rock this trend and I guess I’m finally upping my style game too as I have also jumped on the Gingham trend! So, here are two ways to rock this trend and a few of my personal styling tips.

The Staple Dress

Finding yourself a gingham dress is very, very easy. While many stores stock dresses in this print, the biggest issue always comes when it’s time to think of how to actually style it. For me, keeping it simple is the key. Pair your gingham dress with accessories that contrast the main colour of the print – I.e. I wore red shoes with my black and white Gingham dress because black, red and white always go together. If you go for a blue print gingham, accessorize with yellow. If you go for Green gingham, accessorise with Red and so on. It’s all about contrast!

The Smart Chic

This sort of look is a bit harder to achieve with gingham, because the print can easily look ‘cheap’ or out-of-place if not styled well. However, as a rule of thumb in the style world, if you’re going for a smart look and you’re not sure how to go about it, then stick to dark colours; and that’s exactly what I did for my outfit! I paired a gingham peplum top with black pants and a wine coloured clutch. To add some life to my look, I went for patterned shoes BUT in Black and White – Mixing black and white prints is always a good idea!
