I’ll tell you one thing before you go on with this post – The ONLY thing that was planned about both our looks was the white bottoms. We decided to work together on a post showing how we’ll style white bottoms to work but how we both ended up pairing our looks with blue tops was a pure coincidence – Talk about great minds thinking a like!
to show you how to style this often neglected yet classy colour to work. Granted – the corporate world has some unspoken dress code that you sometimes feel obliged to adhere to, but as a style enthusiast, it’s only normal to try to find a way to break away from the norm.
Kachi of Staples and Style, who I first got to know by searching the hashtag #AbujaBlogger on Instagram (she doesn’t know this so sshhhhh) and then later got to build a relationship with through The Blogger Point Nigeria, paired her white pants with a collarless-white blazer and brought the look together with a blue cami. Her outfit gives off a professional boss-lady vibe which is perfect for attending business meetings or creating a very good first impression when meeting up with clients out of work.
More of a day-to-day work outfit, I chose a more casual look by styling a white knee-length skirt with a navy blue top. I accessorised minimally with a bar hand-cuff and tied my look together with my white heeled sandals and my new favourite bag – a white snake print.
In my opinion, the main take home point from this is that any colour can be styled to work. However, it is important to note that corporate organisations might prefer toned down looks and so when styling bright or bold colours, it is always important to either tone it down with darker colours or keep your accessories to the bare minimum.
What do you think?
