So I’m back with another styling the basics post and this time we’re talking about the timeless denim. Every year style forecasts predict that denim will be a hot trend “this season” but in all honesty, denim never goes out of fashion. Regardless of what’s hot on the style scene at the moment, denim is always and probably will forever be a hot trend. The question is, how do you style it? Everyone has their own interpretation and while some pieces are very cliché and some a bit more daring (like a denim maxi dress – It’s on my wishlist ^_^) and some point or another, everyone does revert to the cliché or should we say, the good old denim piece! So today I’ll be showing you 3 ways I’ll be rocking denim this year with a few of my most recent buys!
Initially I was a bit skeptical about this piece and I wasn’t so sure how I’d style it for an everyday look. However, after a few outfit try outs I figured out that my ‘dungarees’ style will just have to be one along the laid back tomboy – almost urban chic sorta look; but as you know ‘Demi’ can’t survive without a pair of heels so I completed my look with a pair of Mule colour block heels and a silk scarf as a belt. On the other hand, you may choose to complete your look with a pair of trainers for a more casual dress down kinda look – It’s all up to you!

The Classic Denim shirt
The Denim shirt is definitely a classic and basic piece – and in my opinion, everyone needs a denim shirt! This piece can be styled in so many ways! With leggings, full skirts, pencil skirts or even worn as a ‘jacket’ over a tank top! However, for my look in this post, I went for some leather panel black leggings, a pair of pale blue patent pumps and a quilt pattern patent bag to bring this piece to life.
Good Old Double Denim
I’ve actually never worn a double denim outfit but while putting together my looks this combo turned out really well! Double denim can be worn with both denim pieces having the exact same shade or one being a shade or shades lighter. You can also mix printed denim items with plan denim items to give your look a more dynamic feel. Either ways you will be making a style statement as not everyone can rock double denim!
So there they are! – 3 ways I will be wearing my denim this year. How will you be rocking yours?
